On Winchester Now this week:
- A bus severely damaged by fire 9 months ago will be transported from Winchester to Northamptonshire this weekend to be part of a Buses Festival – in the hope of finding people who can help restore it. We talk to the Friends of King Alfred Buses.

- A four year scheme to replace sections of the footpath along the Weirs is now complete.
- Crucial meetings are being held next week to discuss the future of the Sir John Moore Barracks.
- A mobile health van delivered almost one thousand Covid vaccinations. It toured around Hampshire between April and August.
- A jobs and opportunities fair takes place next Wednesday 4th September in the Middle Brook Centre.
- We go out into the city to hear people’s views on possible new outdoor smoking rules. The plans could see smoking banned in pub gardens, outdoor restaurants and outside hospitals and sports grounds.

- The Heritage Open Days begin next Friday when businesses, organisations and visitor attractions open their doors for free to celebrate our history and culture. There are many events taking place across Winchester and we will highlight some of those on Winchester Now in the coming weeks. We begin with a visit to P & G Wells bookshop in College Street.
- We finish with details of two events this weekend:
- The Weeke Weekend from 12 to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday at Weeke Community Centre.
- A free family fun day takes place in the Abbey Gardens on Saturday between 1 and 5pm. It’s organised by the City Council and Winchester Ukrainian cultural association.
