  • For some people Christmas can be a stressful and difficult time and the message from Winchester Samaritans is we’re here 24/7 to help. They also give advice for those struggling at this time.
  • News-in-brief:
  • People in Winchester are being urged to only use A&E in a life-threatening emergency, with another strike by junior doctors this week.
  • Former Winchester Mayor Derek Green will appear in court next month charged with assaulting a teenage girl during the bonfire and fireworks display at the River Park last year.  
  • Hampshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner is urging motorists to think twice before getting behind the wheel over the festive period.  
  • Projects around Winchester are to benefit from a share of £3m in funding from the South Downs National Park Authority.  
  • Residents and visitors to Winchester will be better informed about the significance of one of the city’s most recently erected statues, thanks to the installation of a permanent information board. 
  • A festival of music and sound is being planned for next Summer. It follows the launch of a new community project called Sound Winchester.

  • Finally, a story of Christmas cheer: Winchester Now joined pupils from Kings Worthy Primary School who visited residents of the Dower House care home to sing carols and spread festive joy.
