On Winchester Now this week:
- The Covid pandemic has led to a rise in the number of people experiencing problems with their mental health. On Saturday a Wellbeing Fayre is being held in the grounds of Winchester Cathedral to try to make a difference – with many local organisations and charities taking part. We talk to two of the organisers.
- If you were listening to our programme last Thursday you will have heard the exciting news about the visit of the Princess Royal to Winchester as the Royal Logistic Corps celebrated receiving freedom of the city. This week we hear from some of those who took part in the parade.

- Upper Brook Street is to close for more than a year – while work is carried out to build a new GP surgery.
- Winchester police have used a criminal behaviour order to ban a known offender from parts of the city centre
- Winchester’s sport and leisure centre has won a top design award. It’s been given a Royal Institute of British Architects South Award 2023.
- Fearless fundraisers will brave hot coals on Friday to raise money for local charity Trinity.
- A theatre show takes place in Winchester this weekend with music and dance performed by Ukrainian refugees living in the city. The free event at the Theatre Royal comes ahead of Refugee week later this month.

- Well done to all the winners of the 2023 Winchester Business Excellence Awards, which were announced at a ceremony at Winchester College.
- A big thank you to three hairdressers from Hampshire who gave up their time to give free haircuts at the Winchester Beacon
- Congratulations to a young footballer from St Swithun’s School who has been scouted by England talent spotters. Isabella Cowley has been selected for the “Future Lionesses talent programme”.
- A campaign entitled “Not just for the posh” is hoping to encourage more people to try out Croquet. We visit the Winchester Croquet Club to see what makes this sport so special.
