- Summer Cook talks to Jo Crocker from WinACC, a local environmental and sustainability charity, about next month’s Winchester Green Week – a festival that celebrates and promotes sustainable living, and choices that we can all make for a hopeful future.

- People are being reminded to take extra care of fire risk as the hot weather continues. The warning follows a massive fire which closed a large section of the A31 in the New Forest this week. People are being reminded not to light BBQs and camping stoves, or to use a naked flame in the tinder dry conditions.
- Fire crews from Winchester were part of a 70 strong team who arrived from across the county, to tackle a blaze at the South Winchester cricket club pavilion. The building was destroyed in the blaze. The pavilion and clubhouse was also used by several social groups, who say they are saddened by the loss.
- A helpline has been set up in Hampshire for students who received their exam results this week. Hampshire County Council’s service was opened ahead of the A level, T level and vocation qualification results on Thursday, and will remain in place for GCSE results next week. Qualified careers advisers are available to help young people consider their options.
- The Boomtown Festival is now underway near Winchester. Festival goers began arriving on Wednesday, with around 70,000 people expected to attend during the event. Roads around the site are expected to be very busy on Monday as everyone leaves the site at the Matterley Bowl.
- A quick reminder that junction 9 of the M3 will be closed again the following weekend. It will be shut from 9pm on Friday 21st August to 6am on Monday 24th for ongoing work to upgrade the junction.
- Marwell Zoo teams are investigating what they call a “very promising lead” and potential new photograph – in the ongoing search for Samba, the capybara who has been missing in the Hampshire countryside. The search continues.
- Summer Cook asks Winchester City Councillor Lucille Thompson, Cabinet Member for Business & Culture, about the council’s plans to spend £5m to restore the Guildhall and then lease-out the Guildhall and Abbey House to an events management company.
