- We talk to volunteers at the Winchester Hospice, who are part of a team of trekkers preparing to walk 50km through the Sahara, raising funds for the hospice.

- Winchester MP, Danny Chambers has made his maiden speech in Parliament, and has subsequently said he is“hugely honoured” on being appointed the LibDems’ spokesperson on Mental Health.
- This year marks the 30th anniversary of the NHS Organ Donor Register. Hampshire Hospitals are highlighting the need for more donors and encouraging people to register this Organ Donor Week.
- Hampshire police are reminding people that new laws mean owning Zombie-style knives and machetes is now banned.
- It’s Winchester Green Week, and a whole range of activities are underway locally promoting sustainable living.
- A successful fundraising lunch for the Mayor of Winchester Charities took place earlier this week at the Gandhi restaurant. Winchester Radio is one of the 4 beneficiary charities this year, along with Hampshire History Trust, St. John’s Winchester and Sea Cadets. The Mayor’s next fundraising event is a Sea Shanty and Trafalgar Celebration at Colden Common Community Centre on 12th October.
- A free Health & Wellbeing Day is being held at the Winchester Sport & Leisure Park next Friday, between 10am and 1pm.
- Tomorrow, Kings Walk in Winchester is holding its second festival in a bid to highlight the variety of business and creatives in that area of the city. We talk to Neil Wyatt of South Downs Social and Emma Shaw of Well Worn.
- Also taking place tomorrow is the annual Michaelmas Fair at the Hospital of St. Cross. We talk to Louise Wood, Deputy Clerk, to find out what we can expect.

- To Cala Homes, which has donated £1,500 to the Winchester Hospice for art sessions.
- To Registered Nurse Apprentice Bronwyn Flower-Bond, from the University of Winchester, who has been selected to be part of the Student Leadership Team in the Council of Deans Health Programme, which aims to promote and develop leadership skills among the future generation of nurses, midwives and Allied Healthcare Professionals.
- To Stagecoach Bus driver Csaki Szilard, who is returning to his home country of Hungary after brightening the journeys of bus passengers around Winchester with his good humour, singing and smiling.
- To Cabinet Rooms, which has won a Brita “Grounds of Innovation” Award for acting as a hub of the local community.
- And to the volunteer team at Winchester Radio, as we celebrate our 40th birthday – we’ve been supporting the local community since we launched our hospital radio service on 24th September 1984.
